I spent several weeks in Amman (and travelling around the country) in 1989 as part of an intensive Arabic course.

The Amphitheatre and Forum at Jerash, one of the best preserved and most complete Roman cities.

Taking it easy 'on' the Dead Sea. No doubt like many others, and in the interests of expanding my knowledge, I tasted a mouthful of the water - it was totally disgusting, of course!

The 'Treasury' at Petra - this is a long hike from the Siq entrance, but well worth it, because the views over the surrounding countryside are spectacular.
